报告题目:Innovation Similarity and Employee Satisfaction

报告摘要:

Capturing innovation similarity between acquirer and target firm via the discussions in conference calls, we document that more similar acquirer-target pairs exhibit lower innovation quality and we explore the reason from the employee perspective. These deals result in lower employee satisfaction in various topics. The test using the removal of non-compete agreement as identification indicates that innovation similarity amplifies the effect of employee mobility on employee satisfaction. Further analysis reveals that the dissatisfaction tends to disappear within 3 years. The effect becomes more pronounced among departed employees, senior employees, research staff, and target firm employees. After the M&A, the employees express more concern about their own benefits and growth. Our results are not explained by technological overlapping between the firmsor the corporate innovation culture, suggesting that innovation similarity captures a distinct aspect of corporate culture that has profound influence on post-merger employee satisfaction.

报告人简介:

冯泓睿,美国Pepperdine大学金融学副教授,主要研究领域包括实证公司金融、自然语言处理,及环境、社会与公司治理。其文章发表在权威金融学和会计学期刊,包括Journal of Banking and Finance Journal of Management Accounting Research等。冯泓睿副教授于2017年获得美国俄克拉荷马州立大学金融学博士学位,本科和硕士分别就读于浙江大学和美国佐治亚理工学院。
